For the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority (LACMTA), ADVANTEC was part of the team for design and installation of the Advanced Public Transit System (APTS). ADVANTEC was responsible for installation and testing of a CAD/AVL (Computer Aided Dispatch and Automatic Vehicle Location) mobile radio system for fixed route transit buses. In addition to the installation and testing of new equipment, we were also responsible for diagnosing, removing and replacing failed units throughout the vehicle installation process, and to salvage the existing mobile radio equipment. A total of 800 buses were installed with the full CAD/AVL/radio communications.

The equipment installed onto the buses included the following:
1) Voice & Data Mobile Radio & IVU units
2) GPS/AVL on-board system
3) Automatic Passenger Counters (APC) and Analyzer
4) AVA Signs
5) LAN, RF and GPS Antennas
6) PA system amplifier with interface with existing mic/speakers
7) Alarm Interface with existing system
8) Smart Mobile Data Terminal / Driver Control Module (DCM)
