Corridor Design Management Group - Foothill Transportation Corridor (SR241) |
|
ADVANTEC staff prepared plans, specifications, and estimates for a one-mile section of the Foothill Transportation Corridor, including the Avenida de las Banderas (south) interchange in southern Orange County. Initially, a value engineering assessment of the preliminary design of the Corridor segment was performed. Upon completion of the value engineering services, a reconfiguration of the ramp interchange was recommended. TCA/CDMG reviewed and approved the recommendation which resulted in a $2,000,000 construction cost savings that did not adversely affect the operational characteristics of the interchange. Further work performed by ADVANTEC staff included horizontal and vertical alignment design, hydrological mapping and analysis, design of longitudinal and cross drainage, design of drainage outlet works (i.e., energy dissipaters), traffic signal design, layout of the Corridor Operating System (ramp metering, CCTV etc.) signing and striping, lighting design, and preparation of all Standard Special Provisions and cost estimates. The plan set contained over 120 sheets. Plans were reviewed by Caltrans.
